With mental health difficulties on the rise, an increasing number of pupils are at a greater risk of negative outcomes such as depression and self-harm. A recent wellbeing survey from the NASUWT confirming that from 2021 – 2022 the UK has seen a 5% increase in annual self-harm incidents for every 100 children and young people in the UK.

The reasons children and teenagers can self-harm are often complicated and will be different for every child or young person, but with 50% of mental health disorders developing before the age of 14, its essential to spot the signs, and offer support early.

In this new webinar, occupational therapist Lisa Watson will share examples of what self-harm looks like as well as strategies to help students replace self-injurious behaviours with more age-appropriate coping strategies.
